Abstract: The palynomorphs recorded herein for the first time from the Laren bed in the basal part of the Upper Murree are stratigraphically significant. They belong to 14 species in 11 form genera, of which 9 species are new. This miofloral assemblage is dominated by Striatriletes spp., Pinuspollenites sp., Polypodiaceaesporites sp., Podocarpidites sp., Botryococcus sp. Corrugatisporites sp., etc. It indicates a Late Oligocene-Early Miocene age for the fossiliferous horizon and a swampy (fresh water) depositional environment tropical to subtropical conditions.
