INSTRUCTIONS
TO AUTHORS
General
: Typescripts, enquiries and all correspondence should be addressed
to : The Chief Editor, Himalayan Geology, Wadia Institute of Himalayan
Geology, 33-Gen. Mahadeo Singh Road, Dehra Dun-248 001, India. Only those
papers should be submitted which have not been sent for publication elsewhere.
Papers will be the copyright of WIHG.
Papers :
The papers should present new data and findings and good synthesis on geology
and geophysics with dominant emphasis on the Alpine-Himalaya Mountain Belt
and adjoining terrains, and processes related to mountain building activities.
The average length of the paper including references and text figures should
not exceed 20 pages.
Three complete
copies of the manuscripts should be submitted by Registered Post. Typescripts
must be accurate and in their final format. Papers must be submitted in
accordance with the style of Himalayan Geology.
Typescripts
should be double spaced and on one side of the paper only. A margin of
2.5 cm should be left on each side. A-4 size paper is preferred. Text,
figures and tables should be succinct and halftone plates kept to minimum.
Papers should be arranged as follows :
Title :
Brief and specific followed by name9s) and address(es) of the author(s).
Abstract
: Should not exceed 250 words (100 words for short notes).
References
: in full (see below)
Tables :
Each typed on a separate sheet.
Legends for
figures (including plates)
References
: the author is responsible for ensuring that the references are correct.

Illustration
: Send only photocopies retaining the originals until the Chief Editor
asks for them. The TOP should be indicated. Drawings should be on colourless
tracing paper to the type area of journal i.e. 24.5 cm x 18 cm. Good, clear
contrast black and white prints should be sent. Large folding figures,
and maps will be accepted only after consultation with the Chief Editor.
If return of original illustrations after publication is
required,
this should be requested at the time they are submitted. The originals
of photographs to be published should be sent when the manuscript is first
submitted.
Tables :
Tables will normally be type-set and should go across single or double
column width of a page. Too many blanks between columns should be avoided.
Off-prints
: Fifty free copies will be supplied to the first author of the article.
Discussion
on papers : 100 words discussion on papers which have already appeared
in the journal are accepted. Three copies should be submitted with the
reference to the article discussed. |
